Visit the local Mountain Villages
Enjoy lunch, dinner and the majestic views.
Drive towards Orgiva and turn left just after the BP Petrol Station/Garage, follow the signs for Trevelez.
Three Villages worth visiting, at the top of the Poqueira Valley are: Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira.
Each have good cafes, bars and shops.
Bubion has a tasty restaurant called L’Artesan and a funky bar called Bar Morisco. Continue up past Capileira and you’ll find a left turning towards a wonderful Flamenco Bar, called Al Catifa. This bar hosts flamenco on Thursday evenings (get there before 9pm) and a night club on Saturdays that gets going at midnight! Al Catifa is about 45 mins drive from Orgiva.
Beyond Capileira, in the Parque Nacional there is a lovely mountain spring, with pools where you can swim.
Or follow the road to Pitres, Ferreirola and Mecina Fondales for beautiful mountain walks.
Eat at L’Atelier a French/Spanish vegetarian restaurant in Mecina Findales. If you stop off at the nearby village of Ferreirola (after Mecina Fondales) you can have a heavenly walk before dinner, drink mineral water fresh from the babbling brook, whilst admiring the view from an ancient stone threshing circle.
